Bolero

This exquisite bolero lays beautifully on the shoulders.  It is made of cornhusk over a sterling silver frame.  The back is adorned by a Larimar stone with sterling silver feather design bezels.   This piece is dedicated to Maisie Shenandoah, Wolf Clan Mother of the Oneida people and grandmother of Leah Shenandoah.  Maisie was extremely dedicated to Leah’s work and encouraged her by showing her how to make Native art and also gave her materials including these cornhusks used above.  She told Leah, “make something of these cornhusks”.  Maisie would have been proud of this creation.. a beautiful tribute.  Leah’s grandmother ‘Maisie” passed on to the spirit world on December 2, 2009.
